Ultra 2, can't change any configuration, #20458063
Hi,
Weird thing has just happened to my ultra 2 which as got me quite worried. Suddenly all of my CIFS, NFS and https protocols are disabled in the standard file protocols page and if I attempt to enable them it looks as though it attempts to, but then returns to the page with them disabled. The same issue applies to all other settings. I also had root ssh enabled but now if I attempt to ssh I get connection refused.
Any ideas what is going on?
Prior to this happening I was attempting to figure out why I couldn't save a word doc or open certain text files from a windows machine (fine using NFS in linux). But I don't think I made any meaningful changes during this process.
Help desperately appreciated.
Thanks
Lionel

- Lionelv00AspirantI remember the last thing I did before it all died, I disabled bounjour as I thought I don't need it as I have no macs. Now Upnp and bonjour is still enabled, can't re-enable, can't do anything :(.
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredContact tech support. It sounds like the 4GB OS partition may be full.
- Lionelv00AspirantOK, I've sent them an email. I would be disturbed if the 4gb OS space has already been exceeded. Is this just a partition on the hard drives?
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredIt's a partition on the drives. If it filled up it would have been due to a problem. Post your support case number
- Lionelv00AspirantCase number is 20458063.
So theoretically I could pull a drive out and put it into my linux box and have a look. Or I could do an OS re-install as per instructions on this page https://my.netgear.com/mynetgear/mySupport.asp.
I'll wait for tech support response first though.
Noticed something strange about my registered product, it says:
Purchased on: 11/Jan/2012
Registered on: 10/Jan/2013
When in actual fact I only bought it a few weeks ago, so probably 10/Jan/2013. I wonder if that was something I entered and I've entered it wrong. Hopefully it doesn't bight me if I need more support than email. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredI wouldn't do an OS Re-install. Wait for support to advise you on what to do.
- Lionelv00AspirantAnyone know how long does it normally take to get a response from them? Was hoping they would be based in the US and reply overnight/their Monday.
- chirpaLuminaryProbably up to 48 hours for a response.
Can you try doing a Config Backup under System>Config Backup. Then instantly restore the same file on the Config Restore tab? If its not a partition full issue like mdgm said above, the config backup/restore method should fix it. - Lionelv00AspirantJust attempted to do the configuration backup but when I click download it thinks for a while then stops without doing anything. I am operating from work so I'm not sure if there is an issue with not being on the LAN
- chirpaLuminaryCheck everything but 'data'. If still hung, probably partition full scenario.
