unable to access file created by someone else.
ReadyNas 2100..
I have created 2 groups (group1 and group2). I have 3 users at the moment and all 3 are in group1.
The share is setup using CIFS
Default access: disabled
Read-Only: set to group: group1
Write-Only: set to group: group1
2 users have mapped the drives using their userid's and everything is connected.. All good so far... Buuuttt...
If user 1 creates a file on the share, user 2 cannot open it. "Permission denied". Same vice-verse. Both users see the files...

- EtzAspirantdefault should be "read/write" to accomplish what youre after...
- Glen_HamelAspirantBut from what I understand from the documentation, default of read/write means that anyone will be able to use the share.
i just changed the settings as you suggested, but I still have the problem. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWhat happens if you change the settings back to what you wanted then go to the Advanced Options tab, select group1 as the owner group, check "Set permissions for..." and click Apply. Do things work fine when you add files after that?
- Glen_HamelAspirantAfter every change I make I go to the Advanced Options and check the "Set ownership and permission for..." and then apply to ensure it fixes the files, but it doesn't change any of my problems.
If I set to "Read Only" and turn on Write for the group, no one can write to the shared.
The setting in the Advanced Options are all set as "Read/Write".
------------------------------ UPDATE.......
well I checked out a few other things and noticed I was still running firmware 4.2.5, so I upgraded to latest. 4.2.22 and reset everything.. Now works with following setup.
Default Access: Disabled
Read-Only Users: user1,user2
Write-enabled Users: user1,user2
Removed all the files and res copied them back via the accounts logged in and now user1 and user2 have complete access to all files..
