Is there a firewall on the system?
Im using the default windows firewall.
I have allready tried switching it off for some tests without positive results.
what is the security setting on the readynas?
Im using USER Security with a Workgroup identical to that of my Windows 7 PC.
is the current network home, work, or public?
I have my network currently set to work

Thats a good question - it seems I cant find other windows computers in my network.
In the Network view I can only see my own (same pc) shared folders as well as
the the Readynas Admin Icon (opens Front View) and the Media Server Icon.
But I don't really know if this analysis is representative, since the only other windows pc on my network right now
is a Virtual Machine run on MacOS.
This Machine does not appear on the global network layout view as my nas does.
Ill run more tests tomorrow...
I will try the multicast protocol now... no change after installation.
