Unable to Login to ReadyNAS Admin (RN314)

When trying to access my ReadyNAS from the admin console (http://[localip]/admin) it continually brings the password prompt back up (even though this password has been the same for years).

I've tried powercycling the NAS manually (holding down the power button until it shuts down) and even removing all additions HDs and just having it boot diskless.

It did display a message on the front panel that it was disconnected from ReadySHARE as well.  When I access my ReadySHARE it shows the server in my "discover" tab but I still cannot login to manage it.

Even the default login credentials are unsuccessful.

Is there any way to recover the login (or reset it)?  The recover option on the "password_recovery" page just hangs when I try that method.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi SDCrooks,

You can try doing an OS re-install. This will reset the local admin password and the network settings of the NAS to default. You may check this article for the steps on how to access the boot menu and select the OS re-install option.

I did the OS Reinstall...however now it shows I have no volumes.  It shows I have 10.90 TB of data and 0 free space (there are four 4TB drives on this NAS).

In the system messages at the top it now states "Remove inactive volumes to use the disk.  Disk #1, 2, 3, 4"

Did I lose everything?  Or if I select "New Volume" will I be able to see my file structures again?

      Thank you for your assistance.

After a reboot of the server (via the admin console) it looks like my drive in Bay 4 has died (I'm now operating in a degraded state).  So it looks like I'll be shopping for a new drive ASAP.  Trying to get my shares set back up so I can access my files via mapped drives that I had previously setup.

Thank you very much for your assistance with this.
