Unable to Open Readynas in Windows Explorer (Windows 7)
Whether I am trying to map a drive to the ReadyNas or just clicking on it under "Network," (via home PC) I get a Windows Security prompt asking for the Network Password. I don't have a network password. The popup box shows the name of my computer\admin and says "Enter Network Password." Once I am at this point, I'm stuck in an endless loop no matter what I enter, until I hit cancel.
I've found 10 different suggestions to this or a similar problem across the web. I've tried everything from changing credential settings to local security settings, and probably a few others I barely understand to syncing the clock on my ReadyNas with the one on my computer. I've also reinstalled the OS. I can access the shares through IE. I should note that I was able to access the ReadyNas (map network drive; access through Quickbooks) in the past from a work laptop with all kinds of security settings - no problem.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I need to map the network drive so I can work with some important tax related files. (I would post a picture of the Windows Security screen, but I can't figure out how to do it on this forum.)

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserDo you know if Windows is labeling your network as "home", work, or "public"?
What happens if you enter \\NASNAME or \\NASIPADDRESS in the windows explorer address box? (substituting the real name, IP address of course).
Also, are you logging into the computer as admin? - tmart5AspirantThank you for replying. 1) The networked is labeled as Home. 2) I'm not sure if I'm doing this correctly, but when I enter the IP address into Windows Explorer, it opens up Internet explorer and takes me to the device without a problem. 3) I am not actually logging into the computer (no password, etc..), but my account is labeled with administrator privileges.
- gibxxiGuideYou need to specify the IP address in the following way:
\\IP-Address-of-NAS
In Explorer to prevent OLE taking over and assuming your actually looking for a website.
Example: \\192.168.0.2 - tmart5AspirantThanks. Following your suggestion, I can view the sub folders of the Readynas in WE. When selecting a subfolder, I am prompted and am able to enter the username and password for the media server. However, after providng the login information for the ReadyNas, I'm still prompted by the dreaded Windows Security, "Enter Network Password" doom loop.
