The warranty is not transferrable (which is why the registration can't be changed). You also won't be able to use paid Netgear support.

Unfortunately, there is no way around this. The registration is not transferable. The purpose of registering the NETGEAR product is to avoid reselling it as used.

Yes, this also prevents you in using the warranty. The warranty is only entitled to the original purchaser of the device.
