All you needed to do with a new disk was insert it, and then power up. The NAS will automatically do a factory install on an empty disk.
Either way, there is a delay (about 10 minutes) before the install starts, to give you a chance to choose xraid or flexraid with RAIDar. What is RAIDar telling you now?
