Upgrading my RN104 from 6.1.9
Greetings. I received some great advice on another thread but that was quite a while ago and it is closed. And I am just now finally getting around to this upgrade. My RN104 is on version 6.1.9...

Maintenance is really based on use case. For instance, if you load your ReadyNAS 1 time full of data, you don't need to run maintenance really ever.
If you use programs that do a lot of downloading or changing of files or bit rot protection enabled, you might want to consider doing that more frequently. I recommend no more than once a week of defrag/balance on extremely busy units but only run during periods of very low activity. If you just use it as storage, maybe once every quarter or half-year is sufficient.

Thanks for the input. I checked and since it was the default setting I do have bitrot turned on. I have limited activity on it as I mentioned (used for backup/storage. Occasional access for streaming. So I will stick with the once a quarter/half year.
