Users unable to access specific folder
Hi all!
I am newbie to ReadyNas and the company that I work for. There is a shared folder that everyone is usually able to access. Sometimes, and for some people, they are unable to access this folder. It does not prompt for a username or password like it does for the other folders. It simply says that access if denied.
Here is what I have tried so far:
Solution 1:
I had the users update their computers. This helped for most, but not all.
Solution 2:
I have created a batch file that disconnect and reconnects them so that they are able to access. Here it is:
This helps the rest of the users with this problem, but I do not want to write individual batch files for each person. I simply want them to be able to enter their usernames and passwords.
What can I do to have them simply log in?

ECHO OFF
ECHO Resetting credentials for the drop.
:: Print some text
net use * /delete
net use \\drop\ELC * /user:jane.doe
ECHO Done.
PAUSE
%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe "\\drop\ELC"

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserAdd their NAS credentials into the Windows credentials manager on their PC.
- Lee45AspirantI have tried this on several other folders and the folder in question (\\DROP\elc). It works for the ones that request a username and password. This did not work, however, with the \\DROP\elc folder because instead of asking for a password it says:
"You do not have permission to access \\DROP\elc. Contact your network administrator to request access."
It seems like it works when I disconnect and reconnect to this folder using the batch file that I created.
Is there maybe a way that it can automatically refresh the connection even if they have to log in again? If so then your solution will work. - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserIs the username for \\drop different from the credentials they are using for other folders?
- Lee45AspirantNo it is the same
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserOk.
So the NAS name is DROP, and the share is elc.
Are there other shares on the NAS that that these users access?
Are the users who can't access the NAS w/o the script using "admin" as their windows logon?
What firmware is the NAS running?
