using Rsync with ReadyNAS NV+ to backup Linux Server

I cannot get Rsync to function with a stable connection.

I tried both from the Linux Server and From the ReadyNas Backup Service and I cannot maintain a stable sync.

If I run it from my Linus server using the following command:

rsync -avz /var/www/vhosts/DOMAIN USER@READYNASIP::websites

It runs then fails everytime with the following:

rsync: writefd_unbuffered failed to write 16385 bytes [sender]: Connection reset by peer (104)
rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (938 bytes received so far) [sender]
rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(453) [sender=2.6.9]

When I try to use the backup tool it says: (error connecting to Host)

I want to use to backup all my websites locally. I need help getting past this issue.

Anyone have similar problems?

  • Hi,
    I have the same problem with my readynas 316 (Firmware 6.1.4).
    I read some postings that similar problems can occur with compression turned on(-z flag).
    I turned off compression - without any effect.

    Anyone observed or resolved this problem?

    Regards
    Michael
