Very Slow Windows Backup
Hi all
I got a new ReadyNAS Version 6.2.5 for my company. I am trying to backup over 100GB of data using Windows Backup on Windows 2008 R2 but its taking ages!
Is there a way how I can perform this backup in a faster manner?
Thanks
R

What model NAS are you using? (RN100, 200, 300, 500, 700, something else?)
How slow is "very slow"? Is this over a gigabit network?

Really slow...taking several hours to finish off the job. Yes over gigabit...
Model is ReadyNAS 102

Your NAS has write speeds around ~ 50 MB/sec, so it should take ~30-40 minutes. Though that depends on exactly what windows backup is doing.
It is a home NAS model, Netgear's low-end business model is the RN312 (which is quite a bit faster).
Maybe run NASTester (found here: http://www.808.dk/?code-csharp-nas-performance) and tell us the performance it measures You'd need to cancel the backup, or wait for it to complete before running it.
