Video folder not working on my Samsung TV

Hi there,

I have recently installed my ReadyNAS Duo v.1 (512 RAM, 2 x 2TB WD Red WD20EFRX) running RAIDiator 4.1.10
During my initial set-up, I was running some tests to understad what tipes of files my TV can play. The test mp4 copied in the Movies folder played very well on TV, allowing FFWD and other functions. In the end I just wanted to delete the file to check further functionality, however that seems created the problem as from that moment whenever trying to acces the Movies folder from my Samsung TV I get the message "Failed to access the device. please check the device and retry". Pictured and Music folders work just fine.

I tried with no positive results the following:
- de-activate and re-activate the DLNA service
- re-boot the NAS
- delete and re-create the entire MEDIA share
- factory default

Can somebody indicate at least a possible route to troubleshoot this? Video streaming is not the primary purpose for this machine but it's a very nice feature to have.
I do have an ATOM 535 machine running XBMC which I can connect to the same network and map the NAS to it, BUT can't operate that using the TV remote AND it's yet another device running and using power etc.

PS: I use a MAC air to access my NAS

Thanks a lot,

M

  • UPDATE: just to say that half way through debugging logs for UpNP and DLNA I remembered there's a DLNA all share app on my samsung mobile. I started that and it works like a charm, it streams any file from the NAS to the TV.
