I bought a RND2000 a week ago. I separately purchased two Seagate 500GB drives (one of those listed on hardware compatibility list). I am running Vista SP2.
I have been experiencing problems with slow performance on Wireless. Things that I have tried:
- using IP address instead of the hostname of the readynas
- change Wireless Adaptor on my laptop MTU to 1492, 1460, 1430
- enable and disable disk spin down in case spin up after spin fown makes things bad
- tried Radiator 4.14, 4.15, 4.16beta T21
- hardwired port speed on router and readynas to 100MB Full Duplex (in case speed autonegotiation is a problem)
This is just about everything discussed on the forum. None of these make any significant inroad.
The best I can achieve is 2-2MB/s reading and writing. That's usually after I reboot the laptop. It then deterioates to 1.8MB/s, to 600-700kB/s and then to something that is totally unusable. That trend of deterioation happens over a period of a few hours or 24 hours depending how much I do on the unit via my laptop.
I understand that this may not be totally a Netgear issue as Vista has its own fair share of issues. However, it seems to me that people have other NAS and it is ok with Vista.
Are we going to get some real resolution from Netgear? I am very worried as 4.16 beta is supposed to have fix to the Wirless performance issue but it is not.
Is it possible for me to get my money back? I am truly unhappy about this.
