Hi there, for those of you (like me) who were hoping that v4.1.6 would be the cure to all evils, here is some bad news for you...
v4.1.6 is not any better for wireless performance...
v4.1.4 still is for me working better (well working, wereas v4.1.6 just isn't).
Here is my setup, in case the moderators are talking to their support collegues.
ReadyNAS Duo, connected to a bthomehub via 100Mbit ethernet cable (cat6)
2 computers connected to the bthomehub via wireless (54mbps), running windows vista sp2 (one home edition and one ultimate).
PS: I can't wait to upgrade to Windows7, but given that in Europe it means re-installing from scratch, I won't do it.
Why I would love to use the ReadyNas for more than the weekly backup?
I copied my pictures and music to the Readynas to be sure my pictures are backed up and also available on both PCs regardless of which one I happen to connect my camera to... (Thanks SyncToys)
But at present Wireless performance is too slow to do a slideshow directly from the ReadyNas in v4.1.4 (family just walks away and asks me to call them back when it's working... ).
With v4.1.6, it's even worse, the explorer windows just goes: "not responding".
Just for reference the pictures are taken from a 10M/pixels camera so can weight up to 8MB.
As a comparison windows file copying in V4.1.4 achieves an ok 2.2 MB/sec.
But with 4.1.6 it doesn't even start...
So, I downgraded and I am back to "normal", ie: I am the proud owner of an expensive backup device, not a media server.
