volume exposed as a share + hide compromised
I'm exploring the network exposed for my readynas 102. + 6.5.1
I have a single disk with 1 volume named NAS, It contains a number of shares one in particular is 'Work' and another 'Books'. I have configured 'Work', as Hidden,. The sibling share 'Books' is not hidden. From a windows machine I examine the network shares available and observe the following
\\NAS-1\Work is not displayed OK.
\\NAS-1\Books is visible OK
\\NAS-1\NAS is visible unexpected
I can also drill down:
\\NAS-1\NAS\Work is Visible unexpected,
\\NAS-1\NAS\Books is Visible OK
This is because you are using the NAS admin credentials to access \\NAS-1.
If you were using a user's credentials then \\NAS-1\NAS would not be shown.
