The wake up will take some time to take effect - disks need to spin up before media is available. With some players that delay can create a timeout.
I'd love to see Netgear routers support WoL in their gui.
Though I wouldn't want the router to automatically wake a device whenever a packet is sent to it. Some of my PCs can be set to wake up when on any packet directed to them, and the result is that they never stay asleep.
