Want to Install MySQL on ReadyNas Pro

Hi andthanks for your reply and the link.

I have installed MYSQLON and that is working.
Also installed PHP and PHPAdmin and both are now working, although I did have to install Putty and go into mySQL on command line to be able to create a user and get into the PHPAdmin homepage.
So now the Admin program is running - however any program external to the server (in other words running on my connected Windows PC) such as MySQLAdmin or DBGallery cannot connect to the server, even using the exact same username and password as that I use to get into phpAdmin!

Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated!

By default the server is setup to only accept connections from applications running on the server itself - a standard security option

You'll have to edit /etc/mysql/my.cnf to alter this behaviour. Or install DBGallery on the NAS

I am new to this so please bear with me .............

Looking at a previous post of yours back in May (that was in relation to connecting to mySQL on the Duo), you mention that a bind address command needs to be added.
--bind-address='0.0.0.0'

Is this to be added to the my.cnf file you mention before?
If so should it replace the existing line bind-address = 127.0.0.1?

Or does it go elsewhere?

Yes - add to my.cnf , replacing the other line. That ensures mysql is listening to both Ethernet ports

Also check that the setting --skip-networking is NOT set as that disables mysql from being accessed via tcpip

I have similar problem on my NasPro Duo, i know that i have to modify my.cnf file, but where i can find this file ? When i borwsing my NAS resources as an admin user i can;t find any addons files.
