Weird Fan Problem on RNDP6000 with 6.4.1 - Solution did last :(
Hello,
Well, after making the changes to my config file, the system fan has gone back to not spinning except at boot time.
All I would like to ask Netgear support is how do I permanently turn my fan on, even at full speed is fine because my NAS is in the basement and the noise won't be a problem. Surely there is a way to do this?
I assume that it would involve a change to the /etc/sensors.d/system.conf file? What is the syntax to turn the fan on forever, not worry about temperature control and cycling it, just turn on full blast indefinitely?
Thanks for the help, it would be nice if we had details about the syntax for that file? I can sort of figure out some of it, but without official instructions, I am afraid to make changes beyond what I have done already...

This fixed it my RNDP6000 (from the other thread):
echo 2000 > /etc/frontview/min_fan_speed_override
Funny thing is, even though my fans don't run at 2000, they run at their normal speeds, and they don't make noise. I thought they would go to full blast at 2000, but they just run normally, when I reboot I can hear them at full speed, but once booted they run 100% normal.
Wonder why this is the case? Obviously they don't try and stay at 2000rpm? I would hear it if they did. I had a molex inline 4 pin fan adapter that I was going to install on one of the hard drive power connectors if I could not figure this out, glad I don't have to use it. Anyone at Netgear care to take a stab at why this works? I don't care, just glad I am all fixed up after multiple trial and error attempts to get it working again. My system also does not show DEAD as a status now that both fans are running.

Perhaps the minimum fan speed was set so low that in trying to reduce the fan speed to that, the fan stopped and the system considered the fan to be dead.
