Why does my ReadyNAS 102 turn on every few weeks?

Been trying to sort this for ages.
Basically my NAS is being used for long term storage of my mater photos. Therefore I leave it turned off except when I do aome additions after my anual trip.

But every few weeks I come home to find it on!

I have searched the Window scheduler but there's no entries there.

I have searched all the event logs but can't see any mention of Netgear.

Any suggestions apart from pulling the PSU out of the wall?

Apologies if this is in the wrong place, under "Select Location" I couldn't find anything like NAS

Is the NAS on an UPS?  Given it's use, my suspicion is no.  And if I'm right, then it is likely coming on because you had a power glitch.  The default state of the NAS after a power interruption is on.  There being no access to the BIOS where such things are normally set, the only alternatives are install an UPS so the NAS doesn't see the power interruption, schedule timed power downs every day (not a complete solution, but somewhat one), or live with it.

A power strip with a switch might also be an alternative (leaving the switch off when the NAS is powered down).

A simple, elegent solution if all power-on's are via the power button.  I use scheduled power ons and WoL since the NAS are in a storage room, so didn't think of such a basic answer.
