I tried both ways - disconnected the original mapped networked drive on the users machines, created users on the NAS, and then set them with read\write permissions on the NAS share. I then mapped the network dive from each user account on the PC to the share a fresh. Same result - User A can't write to User B's files and vica versa. .
So I created a new share volume. set NAS User A and B (already created) with read\write permissions to that share. Mapped the drive on both PC user accounts. Same result, the 2 users can't write to each others files.
To test the result I created a directory and text file under both users. I then tried to edit the other users text file. For both users, I could not save the amend to the other users account. This was on an old XP system. I suspect on Win7 I may not have had access at all.
We're using this in a business application and I'm amazed that it's seemingly not possible to set this up ? It seems for any sort of collaborative sharing I HAVE to have anonymous access ?
