Windows 10 network drive Readynas Duo V2

Hi,

I would be really grateful if anyone could help me please.

I have a ReadyNas Duo with a 2tb drive I have fitted myself. I have literally just bought this and hoped it would be significantly better than my previous Seagate cloud.

I have followed the set up fully, and am able to access the drive through Chrome to copy files to it. However I am not able to mount it as a network drive in Windows, which is causing my massive headaches. The PC sees the drive as a media drive with the video/picture/music files, but no shared drives. I have tried to follow the instructions on the forum but nothing seems to work.

Raidar finds it and reports it working fine, admin page is fine and aside from not being able to mount the drive I am fairly happy. My network is set to private and firewall is turned off. Windows is 19042.

Any easy to follow help would be amazing.

Readycloud doesn't see any devices at all.

thank you,

joe

  • Your "new" NAS is really quite old.  The OS on it only supports SMB1, so you have to enable that in "Turn Windows Features on or off".

Since the NAS is new to you, you may be confused as to which model you actually have, though the answer I gave applies to both in this case.  Netgear originally used the "v2" designation as an indicator of a minor difference, and that indication was only on the label.  It then created an entirely new using that is also labeled "V2", but is so labeled on the front.  Knowing which one you have doesn't matter this time, but will for other issues since they run entirely different versions of the OS and have different hardware limitations.  If your unit doesn't say "V2" on the front and run OS version 5.x, then we refer to it as a V1 here.

      Hi,

I have tried SMB, and everything is turned on, along with network sharing.

Completely appreciate it is pretty old, it is a boxed new version from amazon but appreciate it is old tech. I am just unsure as to how it isnt showing on my network list as previously my cloud solutions have shown up fairly easily.

Will check what revision the drive is.

      Thank you for your reply

Did you go into "turn windows features on or off" and make sure that the SMB 1.0/CIFS Client is enabled?
