I have the following problems: My ReadyNAS Duo is not visible in Windows Explorer. How can I resolve this? The URL of my NAS is https: crossed by a red line. Not safe. How come? How can I resolve t...

Your second question about the https and certificates was answered in March by StephenB and others.
The issue with readynas devices not appearing in explorer is a very well known issue without a cure I am afraid. Some users have had success by manipulating network master browsers but this fix seems to only be temporary in some cases.
Wht exactly is the problem you are having with updates, are you trying to update the firmware?
If so what firmware are you trying to install? Have you unzipped the file before attempting the update?
What error is displayed?

Vandermerwe, thanks for your reply.
Regarding HTTPS I recall that someone said 'no problem'. Still this does not satisfy me. It doesn't feel safe, while it was safe before.
Before a couple of weeks ago the Duo was always shown in Explorer. Since I have some problems with iTunes on the Duo that can only be solved by removing some iTunes files, I need to see the Duo in Exlorer.
Total Commander used to do the job but now fails also.
When looking for updates there is a message in Dutch.
Translated it reads: the page on https://nas ip says: there is a fault with uploading the update image. [date].
That's all.

There were 2 links in the other thread that explained how to overcome the security certificate error. These applied to OS 6 but the principle is the same.
This is the one for IE:
In Frontview go to services https and make sure your nas IP address is shown, you should be able to generate a certificate. Then in Internet explorer, ensure that your nas IP is added to trusted sites, then you should I think by right clicking on the red https, bring up the security certificate dialog box and install the certificate into the trusted root certification authority folder. You need to do this in Internet explorer. You should also go to IE properties and go to manage certificates and delete any old certificates for the nas IP address.
The other link in that other thread applies to chrome.
As for the update, have you unzipped the firmware file?

A self-signed certificate cannot be used for authentication, since it was not issued by a trusted certificate authority. Adding the certificate to the root certficate store eliminates the error message, but that's really all it does. There's no harm in doing it, but there's no security benefit either. Note that the https connection is encrypted, the missing piece is only the lack of authentication (proof that 192.168.0.x is the server it claims to be).
There is a better answer on the horizon (https://letsencrypt.org/) - hopefully the ReadyNAS will be able to use it.

Thanks for your reaction.
As far as unzipping the firmware file, I cannot get a file.
The error is shown before downloading anything.
But my greatest concern is still: I cannot see my NAS in Explorer.
Because of this I cannot repair my iTunes files and hence I cannot listen to my music.
Regards,

Let's step back to the beginning. You are saying that you checked for updates, and the automatic update failed?
And that you didn't download the firmware manually?

Are you saying it is not showing up in the left pane of explorer? Or that typing \\nasname and \\nasipaddress doesn't show you any shares? If the latter, what error message are you seeing?
