Windows User With Same Username Cannot Access Public Shares
I set up my ReadyNas Pro 4 and basically created three shares with guest access and gave everyone read/write access. For most of the computers connecting to it, it is working great, but I have one computer with the dumb windows username of "Admin". Whenever I try to access the readynas via Windows networking, I'm told I don't have permission and I am prompted for a username and password. I know the problem is that it is automatically trying to log in using the Windows credentials, but the passwords are different so it is denied access. What I don't know is how to tell either a) Tell Windows to log in as a guest for this share or b) Tell ReadyNas to accept the bogus password, but treat them like a guest. I'm betting "a" is going to the easier option.
Google let me down, so hopefully there's a network guru that can help here.

- I will suggest that you just change the username of that specific computer. It's the easiest work around for me.
- BrandonMUSAspirantWasn't sure the ramifications from that in other applications. I know that in the past when I've simply changed the username, it has driven me nuts because the folder name doesn't change C:\Users\<OldName>\...
I did find this workaround that seems to be working temporarily:
Start > Run > "rundll32.exe keymgr.dll,KRShowKeyMgr"
From there you can manage the stored username/passwords for all shares and network drives.
I added an try for the ReadyNAS with the username "guest" and no password. Seems to be working for now, we'll see how long it sticks. - Keep us posted.
- BrandonMUSAspirantJust an FYI for anyone who finds this thread in the future, this fix seems be working perfectly. I've done it on two different machines now and both have done numerous reboots and I've had no issues with the username/password resetting.
