X-raid or raid-1
Just got the NAS and installed 2 disks and picket the default X-raid (?). If i understand this right i now have one volum twice as big 2x2 TB. By default it has a "backup" share and a "media" share. N...

Yes. Putting the same files in both shares is not a backup. It might help with low-level recovery tools if the array fails, or accidental deletion. But it doesn't ensure that you can rebuild the array. In my view that approach is not a very efficient use of the disk space. A true backup on different device is much better.

Anyway don't confuse RAID with backup. RAID is great but there are a number of problems that it can't protect against. See Preventing Catastrophic Data Loss
You should backup important data e.g. to a USB disk, another NAS, the cloud or some place else, in addition to using X-RAID.
