XRaid2 upgrade 5x2 to 3x2 + 2x3 - nothing happens?
Hello all,
i thought i understood the concept, prob not. I have an Ultra6 readynas which first had 3x2tb installed and later on 2x2tb in an XRaid2 setup. So 5x2tbwas installed which gave me prox 7,2 tb netto of free space
In stead of using my last bay to add more space, i replaced the last 2 2tb discs with a 3tb disc. So bay 4 and 5 were replaced by a 3tb disc. I replaced each disc one at a time and let it resync.
After about 16 hours total, both disks are replaced, but i still have 7,2 Tb available, so only 1858GB is used in stead of 2795 GB of the 3tb discs
I thought that with single redundency only 2 discs needed to be replaced to get the extra space of a larger harddisk, so what should or can i do to get extra space. Cause now it was useless to replace the discs because i did not get anything out of this
regards

- starbbsAspirantI wanted to all to know that support fixed this problem remotely, not sure what they did but after i rebooted, it expanded ok
So it was a problem in my config and not the concept itself
