Hi,
I have a lot of devices attached to my router. I try to keep things organized so I can see what is attached in the Attached Devices screen.
Can Netgear please add the option to upload a custom icon so one can upload an icon given the current icon set is pretty outdated it seems.
Either that or can you please add icons for:
Amazon Echo
Amazon Echo Dot
Amazon Fire
Amazon Fire Stick
Ring Doorbell
Roku
Ring Chime
Logitech Harmony
Samsung SmartThings
At the least, can you please add generic icons for:
Thermostats
Doorbells
Smart Assistants (Amazon Echo, Google Home, etc)

Update: it survived a power cycle! I pulled the power cord, and re-inserted it, and the changes are still there.
I'd post a screenshot, but Ican't see a way to do it.

I haven't power cycled yet....it's on a UPS. It has been OK after a firmware upgrade and a routine reboot.
I don't know if it will survive a power cycle, because I don't yet know how Netgear use the overlay file system that loads at power on - it obviously keeps some user settings, so doesn't overwrite everything every time.
I may try a power cycle over the weekend.

phands,
does your method seem to working after the router is power cycled?
Just wanted to confirm before putting in the effort! And you rock for figuring this out!

Thanks phands,
I checked the page out and hopefully will be able to follow those instructions.
Will give it a shot when I have a little extra time to learn some of what you posted.

I found a way to do this manually. See my posts in

It's pretty simple to do....just make sure to turn off telnet access afterwards.

Can't hardly believe Netgear doesnt care about their users. We're probably not getting through to those that matter. Does a Netgear Admin monitor these inputs?
- RNASguyLuminaryTo: CR125Honda Thanks for trying to keep the thread open. But, I don't think Netgear cares about user needs. Consider the thread started on 2017-08-18, about 2 years ago. Sad, but it appears that is where Netgear is now days. bc

Keeping thread open.. Hoping someone at Netgear might read this.
Simple Icons for home our devices please.
Not asking for or needing item specific devices. (It's 2019, newest iPhone on list is the 6)
Just a pic of a moble phone is fine. We have the ability to name it.
Generic icons for - Printer, Refridgerator, Thermostat, Doorbell, Webcam, TV, Laptop, PC, Phone, Couple generic smart device pics (think Amazon Echo / Google Home)....
Keep it Simple!!!

So this request has been active for nearly two years. One comment that it would be 'investigated' and then nothing.
This isn't that hard folks. If you are working on it, say so. If you can't be bothered, say so.

Come on people what are you complaining about? I just got a new Orbi sysytem a few days ago and I can clearly see on the list that they have the iPhone5/5s/5c what more do you need.
Netgear this is so damn annoying and such an easy thing to fix please do something about it. If you only want to fix this ONCE and never have to worry about keeping the list up to date as new devices are created then create a way for us to name/upload our own, then you're done!
