paid a lot for this router and there are no partental controls, the parental control link on the router sends me to disney circle but then says it is not supported! Add circle support for this router.

According to the manual, the R9000 supports the standard parental controls.

Clearly the developers didn't read the manual. My expensive R9000 router is not on the list of routers that support Circle. https://kb.netgear.com/000044718/Which-NETGEAR-routers-support-Circle-Smart-Parental-Controls. So I effectively have no parentlal controls because there are none built into the router OS. Exremely disappointing.

Not so much that the developers didn't read the manual, which may have been accurate when they wrote it, but that you need to understand that parental controls and Circle are two different approaches to the same sort of thing.
Parental controls cost nothing. Circle needs a subscription. They deliver different levels of control.
You might like to research how they differ and what you can do on your router.

OK fair enough. The redirect page was confusing to me - it looked like it was only for Circle, but you can also download and configure Genie from there. Not great controls but it is something.
