I fixed this problem myself. It was actually really really easy. Simple 10 step recovery/rediscovery process.
Step1: Disconnect power and all cabling from the netgear router
Step2: Remove the router from the desk, wall, table, wherever you have it placed
Step3: Put on your shoes, jacket, etc and get your car keys
Step4: Place the netgear router under the rear wheel of the car
Step5: Get into the car and drive to your nearest preferred computer/electronics store
Step6: Purchase a DLINK router. I purchased the 880L
Step7: Return home, ensuring to park where the netgear router is directly under a tire. (Park that way, repeatedly, for the next 5 days before cleaning it up and tossing it in the recycle bin)
Step8: Place your new DLINK router and connect cabling, turn it on.
Step9: Configure your new DLINK router, complete with individual device MAC based scheduling and access controls
Step10: Goto opendns.com and setup your account (FREE) for world class constantly updated web content access control. Set the DNS server settings in your DLINK router to 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220
Results; a rock solid router that has individual device (MAC based) access controls, multiple device access scheduled, and solid dependable content access controls (opendns)
That's it. Easy.
PS: If you want to look into the features of any of dlink's devices, a really helpful tool is their online emulators. By selecting the device of interest and running the emulator, you can quickly see what is included and what is not on each device - so as to select the best device for your needs. The emulators are found under the support page(s) for the device of interest.
