Apple has partnered with multiple manufacturers to bring Homekit management to routers, considering Orbi hardware is sold directly through the Apple store, it seems kind of strange that Netgear has not hopped on this bandwagon. This feature would be extremely useful for Homekit users with Orbi systems.

absolutely necessary. with all the advent of smart homes, it would be interesting if Netgear brought the new security protocol created by Apple to its most modern routers. I understand that a simple firmware update would solve the problem and make the entire Netgear line remain modern, safe and attractive to users.
Several competing mesh systems now offer this functionality
I don't know, but I believe that this protocol will initially be available to companies that were willing to pay some money to Apple to have it first. Same with Arlo cameras with Apple's camera protocol.
Netgear Orbi will lose business without this feature.
I'll wait a little while, if there is no return from netgear, I will migrate to Velop
