Implement OpenVPN client for Orbi

Please implement the OpenVPN client in Orbi. I would like to use a VPN connection without having to configure a VPN client on every device. There are multiple devices that benefit from a VPN but do not have VPN capabilities themselves, such as game consoles (Xbox, Playstation) and smart tvs (e.g. Roku, LG webOS).

 

The OpenVPN client feature has been added to XR500 Nighthawk Pro Gaming Router and for PureVPN on Nighthawk X4S in R7800 Firmware Version 1.0.2.46. OpenVPN client support would be preferable, as I use a VPN that is not PureVPN. Please add the OpenVPN client support to Orbi too.

    You need to ask someone who gives a crap.  Requests posted here never receive a response from Netgear.  Over the years, people have been shouting into the wind with absolutely no response or action on this very important issue.

    rwats Annoyingly enough, when I contacted Netgear support directly, they directed me to comment a 'me too' to try to get this pulled into active business-decision consideration or dev effort.

    I too think the behaviour of netgear - not responding to this topic at all - is not acceptable. The intention obviously is to keep alive the flame of hope. 

     

    It is totally ok if Netgear decides not to delivery this feature and by not acting for years on this topic I guess it is fair to say THIS FEATURE WILL NOT BE IMPLEMENTED.

     

    The learning is that one should NEVER buy a device from Netgear where a important feature is missing hoping it will be delivered afterwards. 

     

    So please Netgeard officially comment on this request, which has been pending for such a long time now, and close this topic.

    Won't never happen for Orbi devices... I'm starting to set my interest on Asus AIMesh. With firmware updates, some of their router are now WIFI Mesh ready, and of course, they still have advanced features like OpenVPN client. I'm sure Netgear could do the same, but they seem to be much less active in firmware updating, or just lazy to please their customers... It's a pity.

    Would be great to have vpn connection. Aslo possibility to add blacklist members by orbi remote. Now I have mail and see someone is trying to hack, but have to wait to get home to add address to blacklist.. Not so good.
