What I would personally like to see is my $400 Nighthawk C7800 implemented into the Nighthawk app like other Nighthawk modems and routers.

- The Netgear genie still works.
From the user perspective it's clunky and not a good experience. Why not use the nighthawk app on a nighthawk branded product? To add to it the nighthawk app is also a lot sleeker too.
- There are features available in the Nighthawk app that do not appply to cable modem routers.
I don't see how not when the same features in the genie are available in the Nighthawk app

Exactly. What's with buying a brand new router that can't be managed with the Nighthawk app???

Sadly, getting the Nighthawk app on to a cable modem/router needs new firmware. Internet service providers do not allow anyone else to update firmware and most of them aren't keen to do it.
Many people prefer the Nighthawk App. It does more of the stuff that they want.
If you are in the market for a new cable modem.router, and you insist on the Nighthawk app, look for one that supports it.

Serious network users like to keep the modem and router parts separate. But that is your choice.
