NETGEAR is aware of a growing number of phone and online scams. To learn how to stay safe click here.
A feature that I wasn't able to find suggested, but which I think would be great would be to utilize the backhaul wifi radios for client connections when using ethernet backhaul exclusively. It would be nice to have a couple Orbis connected via ethernet and intelligently managing clients on all three available radios/bands.
I know that Orbi was originally intended to be used with the wifi backhaul; but with the ethernet backhaul as an option, now, it seems like it would make sense.

I completely agree! I was surprised to learn that when the system was configured for a wired backhaul, that the 4x4 antennas would sit idle. I thought that was one of the main drivers for pushing the update wired backhaul udate.

I literally just asked to implement a feature to shutoff the wireless backhaul when using a wired ethernet backhaul.

OTOH, keeping the wifi backhaul even when you're using a wired one gives you redundancy, and automatic fallback if the cable is severed, rather than just an outage in part of your house.
I'd either make it a feature users can toggle on/off, or at least have them automatically re-enable the wifi backhaul if the cable loses connection.
