Other mesh networks such as Eero and soon Luma support hard wiring your sattelites. I think its extremely important Netgear Orbi does the same. Especially for those of us who can.

Thanks Peteytesting,
"if you have structured network cabling why would you be screwing round with mesh type systems anyway"
Because I use Apple Airport Express as network extenders and they practically create seperate networks and have to be managed individually which is a pain. Plus the poor performance and signal drops during roaming.
What else would you suggest ?
i would suggest replacing the express units with real wireless access points , perhaps something like the ubiquiti unifi AC lite units , or any soho / buisness grade AC AP's , netgear have the wac7300

Thank you - This is great help for a novice like me.

So I actually bought the Orbi with two satellites from Costco and tested it in my house. I was actually quite disappointed with the speeds I got throughout the house at various spots. My Asus AC87U performed better than the Orbi in several locations.
As I mentioned above, I have wire going to several locations where I would put the satellites/extenders so ethernet backhaul is ideal.
There was an amazing offer on Newegg a few weeks back for a Linksys EA9500 router plus two RE7000 range extenders for free. The RE7000 support ethernet backhaul and can be setup as Access Points. Additionally, the EA9500 and RE7000 can be setup for seamless roaming. The experience has been fantastic and the speeds I have throughout my house are amazing.

This missing feature is the only thing keeping me from buying this product. If its not added within a few months, I will end up buying the Google Wifi instead of the Orbi which is a shame as it's 3x3 coverage would be superior.
its not a missing feature ! it was not designed to have it
the orbi doesnt have 3 x 3 coverage as the 2.4 gig is 400M only and the 5 gig is 867M

Even one ethernet port would let people to use a switch if they had a wired computer or other devices some times wireless is not the best choice.
Ready to return my units if they cannot get serious about ethernet backhaul.
then return it as it was never an advertised feature and there has been no comment or word from netgear dev on if or even when this would become a feature

I would like to see this as an option, as I have wire pulled to a guest house - where I would like to put a sattelite that is part of the same network for seamless roaming. So the setup would be one main router, one sattelite over wired ethernet backhaul, and one additional sattelite using the standard wireless backhaul. Would be awesome if that would be possible, as the wireless backhaul cannot reach the guest house.
+1 for having this as an option.
