Other mesh networks such as Eero and soon Luma support hard wiring your sattelites. I think its extremely important Netgear Orbi does the same. Especially for those of us who can.

- Dan_H I want a device that takes the place of both AP and switch because I have both types of client at the AP. In multiple places in the house and out. The AP + switch solution is what I use now and it’s a pain to manage and no the devices aren’t that easy to hide. There I have stated my requirements in multiple different ways and you still haven’t mentioned one of the plethora of devices that will fulfil them? Just because you can’t imagine the use case doesn’t mean it’s not there
An router could take care of that the mainr outer would handle all the ip addressing and the others set for access point mode would give the wired lan ports and wifi access points too. All you need is a lan cable from the main router too the access points if you can not run a lan cable you could use a power lan adaptors in placeof the lan cable.

Orbi team; you are a networking company correct? Others have accomplised what you have been challenged for by your customers; and more important, your "potential future customers". Some of us have had ethernet pulled to a central patch panel. So . . . Come on, I planned ahead when I built my home. Are you saying you did not plan ahead other than to say I have an extra backhall radio? Really? Come one, I get it's only cat5 in my walls, but this still beats a backhall radio no?
I spent WAY TOO much for your product for the lack of ethernet; lack of stability for some ring, lack of stability for Internet (wife plays Way TOO MUCH Farmville2, which means I hear about every Network glitch while I'm at work.
How about you asking your above (customers, future customers) to prioritize your todo's that you know of for this product. See what the masses want? Then reply based on that?
I was just about to order the Netgear Orbi AC3000 kit with a router and two satellites when I found this thread. Without the ability to use wired ethernet as a backhaul, it will be virtually impossible for me to cover my entire house with this product. Any idea if wired backhaul will ever be implemented?
Thanks NetGear for your lack of response to this issue as it was in this ever-growing thread where I finally found the 'wireable' solution I will now purchase: the Eero Pro.
I would have to agree with ethernet backhaul... I have many wired and wireless devices in the house that talk from a wired connection on the router to a wired connection on a satellite. Even with the wireless backhaul connetion solid blue, there are interuptions. This is very discouraging since so many others are jumping on the wired backhaul. I'm considering returning my Orbi kit unless the interruptions are fixed or a wired backhaul option is added. This system costs too much to have such basic issues.

So i set this up as per the link. Internet seems to work ok but the Orbi app on my iPad and iPhone can no longer connect. Internet access works ok from the devices, just Orbi app connectivity rebooted both ipad and iphone, still no good. checked for any app updates and it says it is up to date....
Edit to add: My orbi setup is in AP mode
