Other mesh networks such as Eero and soon Luma support hard wiring your sattelites. I think its extremely important Netgear Orbi does the same. Especially for those of us who can.

I would willing to say that if it comes it will be on the v2 issue of the Orbi as the satellite has no internet port just lan ports and from a design stand point it is easier to add something to next version then make existing port to do a job it was made for.

Well, i hope netgear can use the existing satelite to have the ethernet backhaul. It seems a waste of wireless backhaul when the wireless cannot get through 2 layers of walls. Now Airties also has it own mesh network and it also has ethernet backhaul as well. How i wish i knew about this before purchasing this netgear orbi. Does netgear orbi has an iOS app or Android app as Airties whereby it can show you the connection between the router and satelite?

A mod just confirmed that this feature for wired backhaul is being actively worked on by Engineering and will be released with other enhancements however no ETA just a confirmation. it was mentioned mod in the Orbi forum under wired backhaul feature request thread today.

Well, i hope they come out sooner and hope they do not need a complete change in hardware. My users felt that having two different routers (1 main and another AP with 2 different SSID) is faster than using the orbi with single SSID. Sometimes when my iphone is away from the orbi showing only 2 bars, the loading of web page can be quite slow. I hope they can implement it soonest as i feel that it is really not a good product after knowing others are able to implement ethernet backhaul as well. I wonder why some websites are giving it a good review about wireless used as backhaul? OMG!

I get netgears idea it was that you could place the Orbi where you needed and no wires to run between the Orbi stations great on paper but in the real world as evey home as different needs and wifi issues.

Just purchased the Orbi Wi-Fi system. Disappointed to hear no ethernet back haul. This is a must have, if not available soon, planning on returning and getting a Velop.
Netgear, I hope you are a listing to your customer request, otherwise you'll loose them.
so you just expected it to be there ? did you do any homework before purchasing the orbi ? why didnt you buy some wireless access points if you have structured ethernet cabling
i cant see it coming anytime soon and more like a few months if at all as its been almost a year since the orbi came out and its not got it yet
- Don't worry, I got trolled by the same guy for the same reason. I expected it to be there too. You don't usually drop $600 on some parts to fall short of a 2001 technology.
Netgear says they are working on it, so let's give them the benefit of the doubt!
