Other mesh networks such as Eero and soon Luma support hard wiring your sattelites. I think its extremely important Netgear Orbi does the same. Especially for those of us who can.

- you are better off with your Orbi - I have done many tests (6 router/AP combos before this), and it was the first to let me switch units without losing any (noticeable) packets. Wired backhaul gets fixed, this thing is a beast.

I agree with everyone. We keep saying the same thing over and over in different ways and it's up to 13 pages now but if you think Netgear will add this feature to the Orbi you are kidding yourself.

Like I said before I believe that if the wired back haul does make the light of day it will a version 2 of the Orbi. I would not hold ny breath waiting for it anytime soon.

+1 for wired backhaul. It's the only feature that it does not have compared to competitors! Awesome system otherwise.

One more vote for a wired backhaul!
- dpbloomNoviceI can't tell you how much time I wasted trying to get Orbi to work at all with one of the satellites wired through Ethernet. I was ready to take the unit back, when I tried one last ditch thing which was disconnecting the Ethernet cable from the satellite. This is not an outlandish setup at all, especially in newer homes that have CAT5e or greater wiring. Please build this support into a future firmware. It's greatly needed along with VPN Client functionality (but I'll post that in a different thread too).

I will add my voice for ethernet backhaul capability. WIth my house, metal studs in the walls degrade signal. I put Cat6 in for a reason. I am on the brink of deciding and Orbi would be great, but if I can't hardwire in the satellites, will not be an option.

I can't understand at all how this was not a feature at launch, let alone how this is still not resolved.
- AloysiusFledglingCompletely agree and am in the market now for a system and will not buy any that does not have the able to wire them all. Come on NetGear, fix this!!!!

I would really appreciate the backhaul Ethernet option. It is useful for one area where I get very bad dead spots. I contemplated other option but heard this feature is being added by a guy at the store. Hope he is right.
