  • I like the Apple way doing their router too they include the power supply in the Airport device just a ac power cord to plug in and I'am sure that there is room in the router to shield a power supply in side the router fron rest of the electronics.

The block power supply is very old idea and cheaper to use it has place like cell phone chargers and even that is giving to wireless charging were you sit your phone a charging station and a coil in the phone puts up the rf signal from the station and converts in dc voltage to charge the battery.

  • On Dell website you can purchase how many PSU you want as long as your banks account can deliver!!!

For 10-20 $ that would be a great thing!

I know I am a pig headed Frog, but customer satisfaction should be the key element!

And most of all instead of having to replace the entire set router + PSU  it would make greener products, for the sake of Tweety.

Finaly, for customers wanting to use their router in their secondary home, without having to unplug and replug everything that would make a game change.

    Regards.

  • The strange thing a wndr3400 power which is a switch mode power supply least for years in must cases I believe the true problem is not the power supply itself all switch mode power supply convert ac to dc and drive a transformer to product the normal 12 volts that most netgear routers use.

The problem is the people who make the power supply and the quality of the parts used a part rated for 85 degrees will not last of long as rated for 105 degrees. Heat can break down anything if heat enough and long enough.

I have found that the longest lasting and easiest t find are laptop style power supplies they have bigger heat sinks and better design on ebay.

  • ""Where can I buy a power supply?" is regular refrain on the forum."  it is time for Netgear to solve those issues!

Good idea. They would be horribly expensive in comparison with generic transformers, but if people are happy to pay for them, that is their choice.
