R8000 Guest Network Needs Separated Wireless Isolation and Local Network Access
Guest Network now combined the 2 functions "Wireless Isolation" and "Local Network Access" as a single option. In the old days, they are separate options.
My Chromecast does NOT work on Guest Network because it needs to see other devices. I cannot select "Let devices see each other and allow access to my local network", it will defeat the purpose of using the Guest Network. My guests cannot use the Chromecast now because of this.
I need this fix very badly. I have been waiting for a long time for the fix to come, but it did not happen. Especially this is nothing new, it used to be there before. I didn't know why it was changed. I am sure I am not the only one who needed this. It just makes sense to have them separated.

- itsvanceNoviceWhy isnt this already a feature? Seems like common sense.
- itsvanceNoviceI want to set up my amazon devices on guest network to restrict amazons access to my data. I want the devices to communicate with one another without having access to my traffic.

The original post was in 2016. I've given up on Netgear caring. Internet appliances are notoriously vulnerable to attack, and many of them can't be updated. The more I add to the network, the more unacceptable the exposure becomes. I'm buying an Asus.

Its pretty silly when you look at the list of ideas that are under "Engineering Investigation". vs. this one that is represented in 50 different ways across the 337 "New Ideas". Most of the ideas they are actually considering have almost no votes. God forbid they should work on something that lots of people want and is actually useful, instead of working on things like the ability to "add device icons" (LMFAO).
- ArbigiOnlookerI buy high end "enthusiast" equipment, and they've already lost a few hundred dollars, just from this one customer. I replaced my Nighthawk router with an Asus RT-AC 5300 a few months ago. Also, I'm volunteer tech support for my local church, and when I upgrade THEIR routers, it won't be with Netgear. All because of one setting - It matters that much.
- 0bFledglingMoved from R6300 to R6120, so disappointed to see the feature is gone.

Please do this!
Well done, Netgear. I was dead set on your Orbi system, but reading about this issue has completely put me off. I was even willing to overlook the lack of advanced customisation such as no QoS etc, but this takes the biscuit.

I can't connect my new printer in WPA3. I configured it to WPA2 guest network, and I would like this specific device to be able to connect my LAN. Otherwise I can't connect my printer to my PC's.
Unfortunately, without this option, I need to downgrade my security to WPA2, since mixed WPA2/WPA3 is also not available.
So... no progress on this? Just commenting to keep it alive. I'll also look at other manufacturers, since I suspect my Netgear is dying.
