R8000 Guest Network Needs Separated Wireless Isolation and Local Network Access
Guest Network now combined the 2 functions "Wireless Isolation" and "Local Network Access" as a single option. In the old days, they are separate options.
My Chromecast does NOT work on Guest Network because it needs to see other devices. I cannot select "Let devices see each other and allow access to my local network", it will defeat the purpose of using the Guest Network. My guests cannot use the Chromecast now because of this.
I need this fix very badly. I have been waiting for a long time for the fix to come, but it did not happen. Especially this is nothing new, it used to be there before. I didn't know why it was changed. I am sure I am not the only one who needed this. It just makes sense to have them separated.

Yeah, I posted on this thread 3 years ago and only crickets from Netgear. From their lack of response to a legitiment problem for an expensive router, I've stoped using Netgear and replacing my routers. Anyone who asks, and I'm in IT so it's a lot, I recommend NOT purchasing any NETGEAR products. Other brands may not support their products well, but we know that NETGEAR doesn't support theirs or cares about customers so it's a good chance they will have a better experience. The other brands can't be worse than NETGEAR!

Long time Netgear fan/customer. It's bonkers that these two settings are not separated! Need to disable network isolation in the guest network (allow guests to connect to each other) while enabling firewalling between guest and private network. Currently using Orbi RBK50.
MR60 / MS60 should allow SSID to VLAN tagging for different SSID's, guest network, etc in AP mode.
At this point, I think it is better to just look on Ebay for a Cisco WLC with a box of used Enterprise AP's that someone pulled off lease at a company wifi install. At least these will support a proper guest SSID network and allow you to treat it as a simple Layer 2 network that is isolate from everything else but where guest devices can see each other.
These netgear products are geared for the bottom of the barrel consumer.Actually you might check out Orbi Pro versions of NG MESH. Most low end or home class systems like Orbi (non Pro) and MK systems do not support any VLAN Tagging on SSIDs. Most home users don't have a need for SSID VLAN tagging.
It's recommended that users first research and do there due diligence in to a prospective wifi system before buying something.
