SMTP instead of SMS message for LB2120 LTE modem

I have found that this modem will not use a data and text plan from ATT so I am unable to get a message if it fails over to 4g LTE. Have spent hours with ATT tech swapping plans. Only seems to work with a data only plan such as hotspot or tablet.

Would be great if SMTP was implemented so I just send a gmail message using data.

  • Agree, this would be very useful. Would much prefer email notification rather than SMS, or if integration with PushBullet or similar services could be provided.

  • I am also interested in having another option for notification other than SMS. I'm having problem with my sim not being able to send out SMS.

  • This would be an amazing feature - The SIM card that I am using at present has reasonable data rates, but unreasonable text rates - It makes sense for me to send alerts through the SMTP route!
  • I have the same issue with ATT.  after spending some time on a call today I realize ATT only recongnizes the IMEI of the LB2120 as a data device - ATT says no SMS for a hot spot.  So another route for messaging is need or Netgear could instruct ATT to alter the device description with ATT to enable SMS.

  • This would be a very useful feature.  I am using a "Three" data sim in the UK.  It does not allow sending SMS messages, so I receive no notification of a loss in wired connection and all my data gets used up.

  • I lost hours of my time to this same problem. It’s infuriating. SMTP would be a good solution.
