Support for OpenVPN client

Lack of client VPN has prevented me from pushing the buy button on several well-reviewed Netgear products. 

I thought this feature was supported when I bought the product. It's great at the features it supports, but I can't recommend it to the rest of my group unless it adds support for this vital privacy feature.

Really hope this becomes a reality soon, it's the best feature that could ever be added.

We have implemented OpenVPN Client for "HMA" on XR500 Nighthawk Pro Gaming Router and for "PureVPN" on Nighthawk X4S (https://kb.netgear.com/000055200/R7800-Firmware-Version-1-0-2-46).

Not sure why they refer to the XR500. The KnowledgeBase is for the R7800. But as the XR500 shares the same hardware, it amounts to the same thing, but with a much higher price tag for the XR500.

AbhayBThere are several people who have commented and voted for this feature who specifically asked for OpenVPN client support for Orbi. Perhaps this feature request title could be clarified.

For Orbi owners, I have created a separate feature request to have OpenVPN client support added to Orbi. Please go vote and comment.

The community does expect a generic workable OpenVPN client allowing to configure to access any typical OpenVPN Server configuration - not one and another one commercial providers only. Ensure both the pure password as well as the auth certificates are supported. Both a Web UI based config as well as an upload of an OenVPN client config bundle must be possible.

And of course, this feature must appear on all capable Nighthawk, Orbi and Orbi Pro routers in the very similar way.

Hi, when is the vpn client feature coming to the Netgear Orbi lineup? We would require something like this:

1. A generic openvpn client like they have in DD-WRT based routers
2. Implementation of HMA, purevpn or other vpn clients

Though, a generic one is preferred so that you dont have to maintain all these vpn service provider changes.

To be really useful,  it should also support excluding some devices (e.g. xbox for low-latency gaming,  some IOT devices that need to have accurate local IP for location-dependent behavior).  Thanks.
