Apple TV cannot connect to C7000 Modem/Router

Hello,

I'm completely stumped on this, it just makes no sense.

I upgraded from a Netgear WNDR4300 Wi-Fi router to the combined modem/router C7000. The old router never caused any issues with connecting devices wirelessly but this new C7000 is quite frankly a pain!

I join the network from the Apple TV and the password is accepted but no matter what I do the Router never sees the Apple TV as a connected wireless device!!

Again this worked flawlessly on the old Netgear router.

The other two wireless devices I've connected both had WPS (a printer and a misc. device) but the Apple TV does not support this so I enter the password manually but it just refuses to work!

I've been wasting hours on this today.

I am a software engineer so I understand this stuff and frankly there is no earthly reason I can see why this just refuses to work.

Is there some bug with this C7000 modem/router that won't work properly if you can't connect using WPS?

And what is the deal with not having a FW upgrade option in this device?

The FW version shows: V1.01.20. Is this the latest?

Please help.

Thanks

Allen

  • Well, now I feel like an idiot. I had disconnected the old router and thought I had turned it off and then I set it down on the floor and began setting up the new router. I wanted to keep the same network name so I changed that and set the password accordingly.

That is when I could not connect the Apple TV. And after going through all that, I look down at the OLD router and realize I somehow did NOT turn it off like I thought I did.

So since the network name was the same, my Apple TV was connecting to the OLD router instead of the new one.

Argh, what a rookie mistake! :smileyembarrassed:

    Everything is OK now.

    Sorry everyone,

    Allen
