All models of Orbi which include ethernet ports can be connected over ethernet. (This leave out the least expensive, newest model RBR10 series, becauses the satellites have no ethernet port.
The KEY to this is that the satellites need to be connected to the Orbi router LAN ports. There have been some active discussions about pitfalls when "smart" or "green" ethernet switches are used between the router and satellite.
But, yes. This is exactly how people lucky enough to have ethernet wiring typically run their Orbi systems.
I can also attest that using a electirical timer to power off the router once per day works.
This is considered a COLD REBOOT because you are removing power from the unit.
It is finally what I had to do and things seem to be fine most of the time.
There are still occasions when I need to do a manual REBOOT.
For a manual REBOOT you want to login to the router and do a "REBOOT" not a reset.
This is considered a WARM REBOOT because power is never actually removed from the unit.
A reset would reset the modem to factory defaults which may not be what you want.
My router has the .23 firmware but I have not removed the timer yet. This will be something I will try one day.
Thank you for the feedback. I've just looked around the Netgear Gateway and cannot find the place where one is able to REBOOT from the computer. I have been unplugging. My ISP says perhaps the level of my internet service (50 mg) is responsible for the dropped connections. I don't know enough about any of this to know whether that is accurate. He is recommending 100K and thinks that will resolve the issue. Does anyone have knowledge whether this is true?
Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed? Then test with a wired PC? Be sure your PCs network wired adapter supports 1000Mpbs connection rate.

Having the same exact problem with my c7000 v2. I have a plan of up to 600mbps. I'm currently getting a max of 80 through ethernet and 40 wifi. It's terrible. Comcast says everything is good on their end. Netgear support has been no help at all. So I'm paying for this great speed and not even getting 20% of the speed I should be getting. Very frustrating.- Yes to everything. I appreciate the suggestion tho. More help than I've had anywhere else.
Try this and see if the speed increases, set the modem for modem only mode. Log into the modems web page and find under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings a feature called Router mode or NAT mode. Leave your one wired PC connected to the modem while you try this. Disconnect ALL other wired devices from the modem. Set the mode to disable router or NAT mode. Apply the change. The modem will reboot and after a couple of minutes your PC should have internet access. Use Ooklas installable speed test app and run a speed test with the modem and the PC. I would disable any PC security temporarily while speed testing. Security apps can hinder accurate speed results.
Let us know if you get to spec speeds or same slow speed. IF the speed is slow, I would presume the modem is bad and needs replaced.
