You don't need a CM2000 modem for 1Gig connections. There are other model modems that handle 1Gig connections.

I had a 286, mono card and two 20Mb HDDs.
The CM1100 is a good modem. I love the dual WAN ports. It allows me to have two routers connected. The CAX80 does as well. :smileyvery-happy:
