Cable Modem CM1000
I need to know if I have to connect this modem to a computer in order for it to work or can I just plug it into the cable and the wall?

Re: Cable Modem CM1000
You need to have a PC connected to the modem after you have connected the modem to the cable wall out let. You may need to contact your ISP service to have them help you get it installed and associated with there services.

Is that accurate? Not a CM1000v2? Look at the product label.

_Why_ do you "need to know" that? It might help if you explained
exactly what the problem is which you are trying to solve.
A new (or freshly reset) cable modem _might_ work when first
connected to the ISP cable (and power), but if anything goes wrong, or
it needs some help (with activation, for example), then you'll need a
way to communicate with it, and, as the User Manual recommends
(demands?), a computer with an Ethernet connection is the
simple/reliable way to do it. You can try it without one, and hope to
get lucky.
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your (actual) model number,
and look for Documentation. Get the User Manual. Read. Look for
"Install and Activate Your Cable Modem".
