Cax80 cable modem and nest wifi router and 2 access points
Hi everyone! I’ve been looking into how home networks should be optimized and I had an idea to reconfigure my current setup to be more optimized for speed. I’ve been trying to level up my home network knowledge as I am a novice.
My current set up is Nighthawk AX6000 Cax80 (in modem mode) connected via coax, google nest wifi router, as the router, connected via ethernet to the Cax80 multi-gig port and two nest wifi access points. I had this setup via help from google support and they suggested to turn off the router portion of the CAX80 to not cause any network issues.
Because of that I haven’t been able to access the CAX80 admin page, which sucks. I was thinking of reconfiguring the set up to look like this:
CAX80 as the router modem, google nest wifi router as the hardwired primary access point and 2 google access points.
My reasoning for this is I can use the nighthawk app to manage and monitor the router and modem in one location and just monitor the connection strength between the wired access points and its two wireless access points on google home. My only concern is that I’m pretty novice with home networking and this is my first project. I just want to make sure this could work before I blow up my setup.
If someone could let me know if this is possible with my hardware or if they’ve seen success with something simular??

When in modem mode, access the CAX80s web page at 192.168.100.1
- Kenwilson0619AspirantIf you forgot the password, can you recover it or reset it?

Try entering the PW wrong 3 times, does it give you a recovery. If not, then you'll need to factory reset the CAX80 and setup from scratch. Then log in to routerlogin.com or 192.168.1.1 using a wired PC and web browser and walk thru the setup wizard. Be sure write down all important information for safe keeping later on.
