Internet light on, but modem still not working? CM 400

Hi all, 

Having an issue with my modem where all the lights are on, yet I'm still not able to connect to the internet. I know that it's the modem, and not the router, because even with an ethernet cable the connection still is not working. Netgear support told me it was a configuration issue- because all the lights are on, the hardware should be working. When I restart my modem, the internet works for a second and then stops again. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to fix the configuration?

  • Have the ISP check the signal and line quality UP to the modem. Have them re-send there configuration file to the modem. 
    Be sure there are no coax cable line splitters in the between the modem and ISP service box. 
    Be sure your using good quality RG6 coax cable up to the modem. 
    Be sure to power OFF the modem for 1 minute them back ON.

      This worked! I called my ISP and asked them to re-send configuration file and that fixed the problem- Thank you!!!
