Netgear CMD31t Downstream light blinking amber

I just recently lost internet with comcast, and I notice that the DS light is blinking amber. I looked at the manual and it does not mention the behavior of a blinking DS light. Is the modem bad and needs to be replaced. Comcast thinks its the modem and told me to contact Netgear support. Thank you.

    Typically if the down stream light is not locking on that means it can not make a connection to the cable. So you will need to check the physical connections make sure they are tight may want to remove any cable splitters or try a different cable outlet. If that all fails you may want to have a cable tech form your ISP come out and check everything.
