You didn't give us much to go off.

    1. what router do you have?

    2. is there a seperate modem (based off your title)?

    3. what firmware is on the router ?

    4. what actual error are you getting? A screen snip of it can help

    5. what method of setup are you using? setting it up with an app? Using the browser?

Details are key since we're not there to see whats going on.

Apart from the Internet, your Nighthawk does not connect to anything. It is the other way round. Things connect to wifi, or ethernet, on the router and then to the Internet.

So you need to look at these devices and find out why they can't connect.

    Do other devices connect?

    What devices don't connect?

What firmware is on the CAX30? Unlike most cable modem/routers, this one allows updates.

    Visit the support pages:

    Support | NETGEAR

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.

That page will also have any software, firmware and drivers for your device, if they exist.

Check the section in the manual Update the router firmware.
