Setting up a modem without an ethernet connection on a computer
Thanks much for the reply. I had entered the model number in the "model" field that the netgear message submission recommended :-(. It is doing something non obvious with that info and I have not appended the mode # c7000v2 to the subject to help. Appreciate any pointers
the C7000v2 is a modem/router combo device.
D-link, Asus, Netgear, etc all aren't able to have user directed firmware with their devices that have an integrated modem. its controlled by the ISP. so you can't install 3rd party firmware to them.
To do something like that you need a modem and router seperate.
sorry.
The web page loads fine when addressed with the LAN IP address, correct?
It's just a guess, but the DDNS is resolving to the publici IP of the Orbi and it probably does not respond to connection attempts from inside the network.

Do you mean by the private IP? My server is at 192.168.1.11:80 and I am unable to get that to load in a web browser. It just seems to timeout after about a minute.

Oh, my. A computer with IP 192.168.1.x cannot access a web server at 192.168.1.11:80?
Yet, it CAN be reached from the internet?
